The 9th annual Nova Scotia Fibre Arts Festival.

Come to Amherst: Home of the Nova Scotia Fibre Arts Festival!

To our friends and supporters who have come to Amherst for past Festivals I extend a warm welcome. To those who have just discovered our festival, come and join us in our yearly celebration of all thing fibre. We welcome all of you to our Festival that showcases an impressive diversity of work.

The Nova Scotia Fibre Arts Festival is not only a week long celebration of all things fibre but also theatre productions, luncheons, quilt block challenges, window displays, vendors, outstanding exhibits and show, workshops and artists who share their love of their craft with those around them.

Once again, we have put together an attractive program of workshops, displays, demonstrations, and events. At a time when yarn arts are making a serious comeback we have included a number of workshops that focus on basic skill and a modern application of the older craft. The festival also provides a series of demonstrations each day showcasing a fibre artist. These interactive demos allow you to try your hand at something new.

This year's festival features four stunning quilt displays in our downtown churches as well as and International Display of Art Quilts by Studio Arts Quilts Association. Four major rug shows in four halls will share the centre stage with exhibits of work from across Nova Scotia. There are also shows featuring the work of local artists including "The Very Mention of Home" a rug show by Amherst's own Deanne Fitzpatrick, 2016 Canadian Rug Hooker of the Year! Each year these shows continue to attract an increasing number of visitors.

The festival again is hosting The Zonta Fibre Arts Bazaar which features outstanding vendors from Atlantic Canada and beyond. The marketplace offers gorgeous pieces for those looking to purchase that special something as well as a huge assortment of crafter supplies including hand dyed wool and fabrics.

With all this and more happening during the festival you will surely find something of interest to you. It is your participation that will make this 2016 Festival a success.
